Medea needs your love!

Our 9 year old cat Medea was recently diagnosed with HyperThyroid, a condition that often affects middle aged female cats. It is treatable with medication and curable with radioactive iodine therapy (which has a very high success rate). She is responding well to the medication and the doctors are highly optimistic.

Right now she could use as much love & healing energy as possible.

We are also accepting donations to help raise money for her care. Donations can be made at Enchantments or through Paypal to enchantmentsmedea@gmail.com

Enchantments will close at 7 pm on Sunday, February 2nd due to filming on the block and in the store.

Imbolc is in the beginning of February, when the first stirrings of fire emerge from the frost of Winter. This festival is sacred to the Goddess Brigid, who represents creativity, fertility and strength. Imbolc is traditionally a time of purification. In the past, evergreens were burned to banish stagnation from the winter and thereby welcome Spring.

This is a great time to get a start on Spring cleaning. Smudge the house, smudge yourself, smudge each other. Clear out things that you don’t need on all levels. Break through inertia and find new creative ways of doing things. And as Brigid rules poetry - it is also a good opportunity to explore writing.

February 2nd is also sacred to the Yoruban spirit Oya. She is syncretized with the saint Our Lady of Candelaria, whose feast day is Candlemas. Oya is a warrior spirit who rules the cemetery, magic, wind and change.

Happy almost Samhain!

Witches celebrate October 31st  and November 1st as Samhain (pronounced “sawin”). This is the most significant festival of the year.  During Samhain, we honor our ancestors and departed loved ones, particularly those who have died in the past year. Samhain also marks the end of the harvest season and is a time when the veils between worlds are thinnest. Modern-day Halloween originated from this pagan festival.

This Samhain marks the 5th anniversary of the store's 424 E 9th Street location. Happy Birthday Enchantments!
Check out our events page for information on our Samhain Open Ritual.
The store will close at 7:30 pm on October 31st.

Enchantments is a location in the new novel Night Film by Marisha Pessl!
A book review in the New York Times said:

"The book leaps from bondage clubs to mental hospitals to witchcraft supply stores, as if evil were more a matter of setting than a person’s actions. To be fair, the witchcraft emporium — which turns out to be like a voodoo Apple store, right down to the Genius Bar in back — is an exquisitely charming side trip."

August schedule posted! New candle carving class and new yoga schedule.

The New Moon in Leo on August 6th is in trine to Uranus in Aries and in a loose square to Saturn in Scorpio. By all means think out of the box and be original, but also try to be practical and realize the limits of being reactionary for its own sake.
The Full Moon in Aquarius will be opposite a Sun/Mercury Conjunction in Leo, which means the Universe will weigh in on the ideas and opinions you put forth on the preceding New Moon.

Our Facebook page broke 1,000 likes! Thank you to our customers for your loyal support.

A big thank you to all who attended our Midsummer Celebration. It was our most attended event to date! We’re grateful to have such a lovely community.

The next festival is Lammas/Lughnasadh. This celebration of the first harvest is on August 1st.
If we celebrate Lammas at the store, we will post details closer to the date.
The next New Moon is Monday, July 8th at 3:14am EST. It is at 16 degrees Cancer. The Sun, Moon and Mercury will be conjunct in Cancer. While it may be difficult, it is well worth it to examine your emotions and not take them for granted. At this time, it is important to consider why you are feeling what you are feeling.
The next Full Moon is Monday, July 22nd at 2:15 pm EST. This Full Moon is at 0 degrees Aquarius. The Moon will be squaring Saturn. If you examined your emotions in the New Moon, then you won't be disappointed at what you thought should happen. To be practical, you must see things as they are.

Tarot Class is sold out!

Tonight is a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 4 degrees Sagittarius! (Saturday, May 25th at 12:25 am EST)

This Full Moon is squared by Neptune in Pisces.

This is a good time to cultivate clarity in your life. Optimistic Sagittarius moon believes what it wants to believe, therefore what you think are options may be illusions. Be careful. Question what you think you are seeing. If something is real, it will hold up to questioning.

Sagittarius is the sign of the archer: refine your target and aim high!

New Site Updates: Readings, Events, Videos and Links pages have been updated.

Spring is here! The Vernal Equinox is on Wednesday, March 20th. This marks the day when the sun leaves the watery sign of Pisces, the last sign in the zodiac, and enters fiery Aries, the first sign.
The Spring Equinox is one of only two days a year when the day and night are of equal length (the other day is the Fall Equinox). From the 20th onward, days will grow longer than nights.
Witches celebrate this day as the festival Ostara. This dawning of Spring is a time of rebirth and new beginnings.

We have been busy redecorating to make room for new stock! We continue to grow our book and tarot selection.
